Conversion Impending

DBL is undergoing some serious changes on the sim front. I am in the process of recreating everyone in Windows. I expect to start using the new game to take my images beginning with Chapter 93. I'm still getting the hang of this whole thing and have not been 100% faithful to the original appearances of my characters, partly because of an impulse towards idealization and partly because of sheer inability.

Chapters 88-90 are photographed with the original, self-cannibalizing game (as is Chapter 92). I am going to take 91 in that game as well.

My Game Continues To Eat Sims

...and I give up. I have lost Sita and Hyperion again, as well as the entire cast of Mouse and Shadow AGAIN. I don't know why this keeps happening. The game has even eaten PenelopetheSim, which was a much older sim. I am probably missing other sims as well but I just haven't noticed yet.

Anyway, I say all of this to say that if you are reading a chapter and you happen to notice that a sim looks somewhat different, it is probably because the sim in question is a completely different sim.

Also, I lost Ahriman's skin and I'm not going to look for it.

And yet another newsflash

Pleasantview is officially dead. It refuses to load. At first I thought that it was a one-off. Then it happened twice and I was still in denial. Then I tried it a third time and well, we have an old saying in Tennessee: Fool me three times, you can't get fooled again.

I do have a back-up that I assume is a working back-up. But until I am brave enough to install it, I am moving the Jack chapter back one more slot. So there is the potential that we are in our very last chapters of DBL and that the story will just end abruptly.

Chapter 70 is to be posted tonight. Chapter 71 should follow shortly (and will be different than previously advertised since I never got to finish shooting that Jack chapter).

UPDATE:

So I was just perusing my Pleasantview neighborhood file and I found something suspicious. I removed said suspicious file and I am going to try to run the neighborhood as usual.

But while I was in there, I found a TON of photos that I had mistakenly taken with the in-game camera. *face palm* Here were some of the highlights:

Oh... Ass Cakes. (Kvornan Gets A New Boudoir)

So I went to the Ethelden Palace main campus last night for the first time since I purged a crap ton of unlabeled (and occasionally system duplicated) custom content files that were interfering with BodyShop and making my lots go crash. I was in for a little bit of a shocker when I got there.



Most of the architectural elements were gone. Staircases. Wallpapers. Columns. Balistrades. Shrubberies. And most importantly and tragically and hair-pullingly-- MY WINDOWS! MY BEAUTIFUL WINDOWS!! NNOOOOOOO!!!!! My gorgeous spralling balconies with their pretty stone ballistrades and large, romantic windows! And look at what happened to Kvornan's conservatory:



It is to weep. I will never be able to use that set again unless I can find those windows and that wallpaper. Similarly, I am going to have to relocate his bedroom. I suppose he'll have to move in with Tara.

The other rooms that we have seen in the story are unaffected by the tragedy. But that conservatory. Kvornan spends all of his time in there. I'm going to have to carve out another hidey-hole for him to be emo in.

Does anyone know if there is somewhere that you can download the freezing and sunburnt skin overlays from Seasons? I would be much obliged because, I mean, just look at that face. 

Vince's Monotonous Closet

So as you know, my fae males wear that whole Free Time mariachi outfit (recolored I think by Bosie) as casual wear. Cocomama over at MtS2 extracted it for teens as well. That little bit of CC can be found here. My issue is that I would like to have a set of recolors of the outfit for teens but every time I ask Body Shop, "Pretty please?" it spits in my face. I think that this is because the outfit comes from an expansion that I do not have installed. The same thing happened to me when I tried to recolor Aikea_Guinea's warlock outfit, which is an Apartment Life mesh. I could just dress Vince in these gypsy outfits but they look a little juvenile to me... Probably because I use them for Fae male children.

Advice?

Dare I Download It?

Marhis over at LiveJournal has made a gender-reversed Pleasantview! Even the Townies have new equipment. That's right- Female Don Lothario and male (but still pregnant) Brandi Broke! It's a shame that I'm too much of a wuss to check it out. Even though my game is backed-up and yadda yadda stuff could still go wrong down the road if it doesn't break instantly. And what would I do without my Troy???

Teeny Bopper TV Show Made Using the Sims 3

I think that this has put the nail in the coffin for me. I am so not going to purchase this game. Knowing EA as a company, when I see them plunking this kind of money into advertising, I can only assume that they're not bothering to spend on other aspects of the game's production. Like fixing the freak'n bugs before consumers spend their hard-earned money on the game.

A DBL Dream

I had one yesterday! I dreamed that I was dating Addison London and he (or someone who worked for him) committed a double murder in my apartment. When I got home, there was blood everywhere and I was really annoyed (because obviously, if I came home to loads of blood splatter, my first thought would be about the carpets :p). So I tried to call London to get him to send someone over to clean up the mess but then my phone flashed red and I got a message saying that I couldn't make calls because my bill was past due. And then I got extremely annoyed because London was the one paying my phone bill.



So about Chapter 49- It's coming. It isn't a particularly difficult chapter, it just seems to be one that I have to force into existence.
