ReplyDeleteThe other thing that I wanted to point out about this profile (says Penelope 1 million years later) is that unlike most vampires, Alexei is a working stiff. Always. You name it, he's probably done it. He has even and most especially worked jobs that you really wouldn't want someone like him doing. Nurse comes to mind. All manner of food service jobs. Even teacher. He taught lower school Social Studies for six years. That's six years worth of public school students ages 5-12 being taught by Alexei Garrison. His favorite job thus far has been bartender. His least favorite was cattle rancher. He loves working because he loves being part of the mortal world. It's like a fun game to him. He wakes up every morning fresh as a daisy and prances off to work with a newspaper under his arm, a tumbler of coffee in his hand and a spring in his step.

ReplyDeleteWhen deciding to make vampires a part of DBL, it was mainly because I needed a character who was old enough to remember the House of Fallen Trees murders. So in the end, they don't come off terribly vampirey.
