The Chapter 62 Blues/Preview

OK! So I had what I wanted for Chapter 62 on the outline for months. For the past week or two, I had been mentally planning for it. Then when I sat down to take the images for it a few nights ago, I looked up the exact age of the character whose perspective we would have gotten. I had been planning a flashback for her where I expected that she would have been a child of 11 or so. As it turns out, she was in her teens when the flashback transpired. Holy. Crap.

So that chapter has been moved back to Chapter 64, while I re-imagine the whole scene. Also, it has proven to be a very time-consuming photo shoot.

So then the question arose- What is Chapter 62 going to be? I could just move Chapter 63 forward. And I was planning to. But then this happened:

62p

I do a lot of images and test shots that you never see just to get a picture of how certain events may have looked. Last night I was making a set of test shots and ended up with images so lovely that if I don't use them for a chapter, then I aught to be tarred and feathered. The problem is that now I'll be dropping a bombshell on you that I planned to unfold subtly and delicately like a rose blossom unfurling. Oh well. There are enough layers to the situation that I won't lose everything by giving you this now.

And in any case, back by popular demand, Alexei Garrison.

EDIT: The old Chapter 62 (not the Alexei Special) is now officially Chapter 68.

  1. All excitement about MOAR ALEXEI aside, you really do that? Take pictures of how past events transpired? Is it a self-indulgent thing or does it help you write by helping you visualize the past? I'm curious. I'm also in awe that you can resist making flashback chapters with them. I'm sure I never could! And... I confess I am glad you could not resist this time. For there will be MOAR ALEXEI! *confetti*

  2. It depends on the event. In this case, I was curious about how the posing would work (because I felt that the poses here could have multiple applications). Most of the time, I do it to help visualize. Sometimes, I do them to test the lighting before I shoot the actual chapter. And sometimes I just need an excuse to take pretty pictures. :D

Most often, the images do not come out as I would have liked them to so it's pretty easy to resist using them for writing a chapter. I tend to get pretty lazy when I shoot the tests. But by some magical fluke, it worked out this time. Which means that there will be MOAR ALEXEI!
