Dare I Download It?

Marhis over at LiveJournal has made a gender-reversed Pleasantview! Even the Townies have new equipment. That's right- Female Don Lothario and male (but still pregnant) Brandi Broke! It's a shame that I'm too much of a wuss to check it out. Even though my game is backed-up and yadda yadda stuff could still go wrong down the road if it doesn't break instantly. And what would I do without my Troy???

And now because I can, this photo of Madeline and Enoch as children. Uhh, for story purposes, they didn't meet until Ian's wedding.

  1. Just imagine the creative possibilities! *imagines*

Er, not that it would affect this story at all.

But I want to play with it. It sounds like something that would give me ideaz.

  2. LOL! I don't know Maxis Sims. Except for Don so I can't imagine the possibilities!:P I was reading on LJ that you can might be able to do something like this on a separate account on your computer so it doesn't interfere with what you have going on yours...in this instance they were talking about using 2 Pleasantviews but it's the same principle right?

  3. I have to go read that thread but yeah, I would re-name the neighborhood file so that it didn't overwrite my current Pleasantview. But the word on the street is that there's danger in having both the original neighborhood and the clone in game.

What I could do is just install it on my old and funky computer (OK Computer) and play around with it instead of putting it on the fancy machine where I take story pictures (Brontosaurus). But playing the Sims on OK Computer is less than a fun experience. Hmm.......

Overall it's probably a bad idea. It'll just be something else to delay me from writing!

  4. Download it! But do it on a different computer account, like Phoenix said. I do that for my games so I don't have to deal with the lag of all the different CC.

  5. DAYNA!?!?!?! :o

    Emoticons cannot express my surprise.

What are you up to? Where have you been? Is Aerilis coming back?

  6. haha, you remember! :)

At the moment? I'm staying up late looking at RKC stuff, reading over Lothere and just checking random stuff on my google homepage (where I get an RSS feed of this! YAAAY). And I've been busy with lots of changes at work-- my hours got changed which kind of really, really, /really/ messed up my overall schedule.

Then I started doing another form of writing (-- roleplaying!), which was bad. It took me away from Aerilis. But now I have a shiny new laptop, wireless internet at home and the urge to go back to Aerilis and write MOAR (since so very little was written before D:).

Sooo hi. :D By the way, I like the picture of Enoch.

  7. OOoooOooo, new laptop. I'd love to see Aerilis resurrected.

I'm so glad you're back! *does Lotherian bunny dance*

hehe I think Enoch gets funnier looking as he gets older.

  8. He does! And funny looking guys are usually ... well, really bad people inside. So, yay! (?)

And I'm glad someone wants to see it resurrected. I've been toying with the idea for a little while now. :)

  9. You know who I think would really enjoy Aerilis? Van. Have you checked out her RKC? She also writes a story called Ashelia At War which is probably more akin to Aerilis. Both are really fun reads.

  10. Yeah what Phoenix & Dayna said. Use a different user account to play it. Or d/l Numenor's AnyGameStarter from MTS2 & use that.

  11. Oh! I'll check her stuff out! Thank you. :D

  12. Aerilis, you say? I shall check it out as soon as I finish up this batch of Ashelia pictures :)

Pen, I was reading the comments on the gender-reversed Pleasantview, and the creator said this:

"Actually I put that disclaimer up just for being on the safe side; I myself played the N020 for a very long time, with the N001 still in place and had no issues at all.
But, you know the FOJ: "You're stupid!", "You SUCK!" and all that jazz :P; I didn't want to suffer his kicks and stomps another time (not that this would stop him anyway, but still ;) )."

So it looks like you would be okay to download it if you wanted to :D

Also, I was playing around with Pleasantview DNA in Sim PE, because I was having an OCD moment and realized that Mary-Sue Pleasant couldn't have had the red-headed twins without a blond or red gene, Jennifer Burb couldn't have had Lucy without a brown, red, or blond gene, Brandi Broke couldn't have had her boys without a blond or red gene, etc., and discovered that Mortimer has two brown genes. So my question is... how did Isabella end up blond? From my experience, the brown gene always trumps the blond gene. I don't think I could imagine Isabella as a brunette, though.

  13. *Scratches chin* Isabella isn't blonde! :D

She is naturally a brunette. Normally, I use hairs for her that are improperly binned- Browns that are so light that they look blonde. Dina is a blonde so I thought to give her lighter hair.

But on that note, a lot of my Pleasantviewers have hair colors that are totally unnatural. Troy's children, for instance, are ALL brunettes. Both he and Siren were born with brown hair. Nina Caliente must have been an unnatural redhead (but that was Maxis's doing, not mine). Siren's dad was a blond NPC so I'm pretty certain that all of his genes would have been blond. Uhh... Who else? Haven was a brunette. There might be others too but I can't think of them at the moment.

  14. Haven was a brunette? Wow. Lucy Hanby must have two brown genes, which really shouldn't surprise me after I checked Kaylynn Langerak's genes (she has two blond genes, which explains why she keeps popping out red-headed babies with Daniel Pleasant in my game). Interesting about Nina Caliente's genes--I should probably look at hers, since she's currently pregnant in my game.
