Experimental Lighting Photos

I was playing with multiple light sources yesterday. Here were my best results.

You like Kvornan's new look, yes? Shaven? Well fed? Slightly less derelict?

Alexei's natural eye color is so gorgeous. It pains me to cover up those reddish-brown beauties. But on a more relevant note, I think I've found the quality that I like best in good lighting (other than atmosphere)- Weight. Lighting objects from multiple directions shows off the object's planes, giving it the feeling of something that could exist in 3 dimensions- Something with a front and a back and sides and actual, physical weight.

Atmosphere! This was a shockingly difficult picture to get. I'm not certain that it was worth it. But I wanted to create lighting that looks like the energy Kvornan sees surrounding Jackie Boy.

I was trying to strike up a naturalistic lighting that was bright but not so much so that I lost any detail or object structure. Likewise, I didn't want dramatic shadows. It's not always an easy balance to achieve in the Sims. Here, the lighting was coming from above, below and in front (a spotlight beam). It gets pretty purplish in places but other than that, I thought it was fairly successful.

In other news, when Troy's face goes blank, it REALLY goes blank.

Cully: Please put down the camera, Pen. I really don't want this haircut documented for posterity.

Laurie: Aw come on, dude! Smile for the birdie!

Me: Yeah, Cully. What Laurie said.

  1. Nice pictures. Beeeeautiful lighting :)

Awww, I liked Kvornan with stubble. But then again I'm a real sucker for stubble, so maybe that's just me.

  2. Thanks Van!

haha Don't worry! His stubblelessness is only a temporary condition. Gosh, he looks so much younger without it.
