So I got on the phone with my boss (I work for the property management company that owns my building) and we discussed the situation. I walked down the street to where the police had the parkway blocked off. Evidently, a car crashed into a power line and took down three other poles. So I was running around the building with a candle, explaining things to the tenants and checking on the elderly people to make sure that they were OK. Then I went to Starbucks where the power was on full-force. :p And the guy that's always working when I go in there was hitting on me, which slightly annoyed the bf. All in all a really stupid ass night. But yeah, the bangs and the lights and the screams were kinda scary. After I got off the phone with my boss, I called my daddy! hehehe Our boiler still hasn't kicked in. I'm going to have to call my boss again and she's going to flip her shit. She seriously loses sleep over the boiler.
ANYWAY long story short, the chapter I wanted to have up tonight will be up sometime tomorrow. *End Rant*
EDIT: It's 7:30 AM and there is a MAJOR fire in the house one street over from the building. The house is about 20 feet from where the electric posts went down. There are flames shooting out of the roof and black smoke everywhere. It's so terrible. :( I don't know if anyone was living in this particular house but the firemen! My god, I hope they're ok.
UPDATE: It's almost noon and the fire is still raging. Here is a pic that the boyfriend took:
What's up with the cars hitting poles lately! It's happened twice here! Luckily not around my neighborhood but still!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least it was a car hitting a pole and not something else even MORE crazy! Like horror movie crazy! Anyways...(before I start freaking myself out)
I'll just stalk the blog tomorrow then!:P
At first it SEEMED horror movie crazy! The bf and I were joking that it was probably an alien invasion. But the scary thing was just standing in the halls where I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. I'm not a terribly paranoid person but I kept thinking that if someone wanted to sneak up on me (because I was on the phone at the time- they could have followed my voice), I would have been totally clueless. Granted, the bf was just a few feet away and he's a pretty big guy (6'3"). But still! Come to think of it, he's a sissy pretty boy. I can probably throw a better punch than he can. But if I can't see what I'm aiming for... *shudders*
ReplyDeleteA car hitting poles, and then a fire, within the same twenty-four hour period and few blocks? Woah! That's freaky! I hope no one was hurt...
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, everyone is ok. But then again, I have no idea what happened to the driver of the car that ran into the pole.
ReplyDeleteThe firemen are still outside, btw- Watering the rubble. That house is basically no more. No one was living there or even inside the building this morning. It was offices for a nearby funeral home.
