Pleasantview Extras: Outtakes!

Here is some crap that you were never meant to see (or rather, you were meant to see it but then I either pulled or re-shot the chapter). All of the following situations are NOT to be considered things that happened off camera. For all intents and purposes, they simply never happened. Enjoy. :)

jackchair

Jack practicing his telekinesis. He also picked up Haven and deposited her out into the hall later in that same chapter:

havenhang

Haven's flipping animation is pulled from the bubble blower and has a whole slew of potential uses. Penelope recommends. *Nods enthusiastically*

kissvorn

This shot was unplanned and a little serendipitous. I was playing around with Hula And More when it happened. The picture comes to you from my original photo shoot for Chapter 26 (which was of course re-shot on a different set, in different costumes).

LyandLaur

Here's a cute picture of Laurie and Lydia from a chapter that never happened. Unfortunately, I don't even really remember the plot of said chapter. From what I can tell, Lydia comes over to drink wine and chat with Siren. Then Laurie comes home and joins their conversation. This chapter was planned and shot before I had a good grasp on Lydia's personality.

SirenLydiachappie

A pretty pic of Siren from that same chapter. I seem to remember her sim smiling uncontrollably for that entire photo shoot. I think she was just REALLY happy to see Lydia.

madshoppin

Ok this was from a rather lengthy chapter that was planned to take place before the Lothario cocktail party. It was supposed to be an introduction to Ian's sister Madeline. The first half of the chapter was going to be an inner monologue about how she dreaded facing the social pressures of being upper class, how out of place she felt, what her impression of Enoch was and how much she hated the idea of being judged on her appearance. This would have been a great shot if the lighting had been better. I love the way she's holding that hanger with two fingers as though she doesn't really want to touch it. That in its self speaks volumes.

goopymaddy

This comes from the same chapter (believe it or not). After Madeline gives up on shopping for a cocktail dress, she heads to a youth dance hall hoping to salvage the evening. There, she has a few interesting encounters with Townies. The most important of these encounters was this one. *Points to picture above* Yup, that's none other than Gulliver "Goopy" Gilscarbo. I had planned an entire subplot surrounding these two. But I chucked it.

vanreflect

Lothere, if you're reading this, LOOK AT THE BACK WINDOW! That's it! That's the texture! How did it get on my jacket?? And I won't even tell you about my current BodyShop woes...

shane1

And now, making his first appearance on the Series Of Tubes is Shane Caliente. This comes from a chapter where he starts to suspect that Sabina was covertly romancing his father. And, as you can see, the news does not sit well with him.

shane2

From that same chapter. I'm not sad that I didn't go through with this one but maybe I should consider the possibility of another chapter starring the two of them. After living with her for the past eight months, Shane has an interesting perspective on Sabina.

academy

This picture is not an outtake. I caught Troy sneaking around the Dewilliker Academy one night. I did not summon, invite or otherwise call him forth. He was just there. I imagine that he was stealing the newspaper which is still pretty funny when you think about it.

trio

Here's an unlikely trio. Enoch's sim lives at the Dewilliker Academy though technically in the story, he still lives at home. After school one day, he brought home Vince Mindelsohn who was immediately wild about Sabina. But Sabina just kinda looked at him like something she might have scraped off her shoe.

vincesurprised

This facial expression was autonomous and happened when he first saw her at the foot of the steps. I should probably also mention that these last two shots were not from a planned chapter. I was shooting a chapter on this lot when the kids came home from school. But really, there is no way that Vince and Enoch would ever hit it off, even if they did meet by chance.

  1. Zen Master Jaaaaaack! I will trade you some Vash for some Jack, Pen.

Thanks for the bubble blowing tip. Did you get that animation by moving her while actually blowing bubbles, or did you use an anim box for that? (and which?) I don't think it appears in Hula & More but then again I haven't played much with the crazier-sounding anims from that. Haven's pose looks good for a fight scene involving people with superhuman strength...

  2. Oh boy, when DO we get to swoon over Jack again? *Crosses fingers and opens chapter schedule* Damn! Chapter 49. Unless I sneak him into Chapter 42. Actually... That's not a bad idea. So MOAR JACK in the not too distant future.

I think the bubble blowing anim is in Hula And More under EP2. If not, then check the University Anim Box. I seem to recall that whatever it was that I was using, the bubble blower option was one of the few animations available for children. Otherwise, you can always just have the sim sit at the bubble blower and then pick them up and move them.

The other day, I was trying to think about how I would stage a picture where someone was hanging from a tree by their feet. Then I found these old pics of Haven and knew that the bubble blower was key.

Not that anyone will be hanging upside down from a tree in Blue Lake. To my current knowledge.
